Weber State
Dream scenario: Weber State beats both Montana and Northern Arizona in its last two conference games to earn a share of the Big Sky championship. The Wildcats get the Big Sky’s automatic bid into the FCS playoffs because it defeated co-champion Montana during the regular season. Unlike last season, the FCS decision makers allow the Wildcats to play at home in the first and second round of the playoffs.
Likely: Weber State beats both Montana and Northern Arizona in its last two conference games to earn a share of the Big Sky championship. Again, the Wildcats get the Big Sky’s automatic bid into the FCS playoffs because it beat co-champion Montana during the regular season. But because of the difference in home attendance between Montana and Weber State, the Grizzlies play at home in the FCS playoffs while the Wildcats travel.
Worst case: The Wildcats lose at Montana on Saturday, making it nearly impossible to qualify for the FCS playoffs for the second straight season. Weber State could still take second place if it beats Northern Arizona in two weeks, but would the FCS playoff committee take a Weber State team with two conference losses?
